Montana Tech's Taylor England named Frontier Conference men's basketball player of the week

WHITEFISH -- Montana Tech junior Taylor England was named the Frontier Conference men's basketball player of the week for the second time this season, the conference announced on Monday.

England, a 6-foot-7 former Helena High School standout, lifted the Orediggers past Rocky Mountain College and Montana Western over the weekend. Tech defeated the Battlin' Bears 81-53, then slipped past the Bulldogs 77-66. The win over Rocky was the largest Frontier Conference win for Montana Tech in at least 16 years, per the Orediggers' athletic department.

England had 22 points and 10 rebounds against Rocky, adding two steals, a block and an assist in the win. He made eight of his 12 field goals and sank all six of his free throw attempts. Two nights later, he finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and one assist against Western.

For the weekend, England averaged 21 points and 10.5 rebounds, posting his sixth and seventh double-doubles of the season. He shot 61 percent from the floor and an impressive 90.9 percent from the charity stripe. He has scored 20-plus points in the past four Oredigger contests.

Tech hits the road this week for games at the University of Providence (Friday) and MSU-Northern (Saturday).

Lewis-Clark State forward Kiara Burlage, a former Columbia Falls standout, was named the Frontier women's player of the week for the second time in as many weeks.
