Montana Tech women, MSU-Northern men win regular-season finales

BUTTE — Mesa Williams made the most of her final home game as an Oredigger.

The Montana Tech senior scored a game-high 20 points as Tech held off MSU-Northern 62-55 in the women's basketball regular-season finale.

With the win, Tech, which will travel to Havre to face the Skylights in the Frontier Tournament opener on Thursday, snapped an eight-game skid. The Orediggers conclude the regular season at 5-13 overall and 5-13 in conference play.

Tech led 16-7 after one quarter and 34-27 at halftime. The Orediggers held a 46-35 lead heading into the final quarter.

Madison Allen added 11 points for Tech and Aubrie Rademacher had 10.

The Skylights, which were led by 15 points from Tiara Gilham, end the regular season at 6-13, 5-10. Sydney Hovde had an eight-point, 13-rebound performance.

MSU-Northern men 61, Montana Tech 49

Mascio McCadney poured in a game-high 23 points as the Lights used a torrid start to top Tech 61-49 in Frontier Conference men's basketball action.

Northern (7-11, 6-11) burst to a 15-0 start in the first half before Tech clawed back to trim the Lights' lead to 28-21 at the break. The Orediggers came within five points of tying Northern early in the second half but couldn't complete the comeback bid.

The Lights shot 44.3% from the field to Tech's 29.8%.

Tech (12-10, 12-8) was led by 19 points from Sindou Diallo and 12 from Markieth Brown Jr.

The Orediggers will host Rocky Mountain College in the first round of the playoffs.
