BUTTE — The 2019 season for the Montana Tech volleyball team starts Wednesday in an 11 a.m. matchup against John Brown University (Ark.), its first of four games in the Hope International Summer Slam in Fullerton, Calif.

The Diggers are coming off a 2018 where they finished third in the Frontier Conference tournament. They were picked to finish in that third spot in the 2019 preseason conference poll. Head coach Brian Solomon is hoping the Diggers are able to come away with more than just wins from their road trip to California.

"I don’t think we’re too worried about the way the wins and losses fall," said Solomon. "I think really just keeping them developed on the things we’re working on so we can create the right habits for us later in the season. So early, I think it’s always exciting, every conference game is exciting, too. So whether or not we can learn the right mindset and stay focused on what we’ve been talking about for these last few weeks.”
