BUTTE - The No. 18 ranked Montana Tech Orediggers defeated the No. 16 ranked Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears in a three set sweep Saturday afternoon. Having won six straight conference matches earlier this season, the Battlin' Bears (17-10, 7-3 Frontier) were handed their third conference loss in an eight-day span.

A 6-0 run midway through the first set was all the momentum the Orediggers (22-6, 7-3 Frontier) needed to claim a 25-22 set victory. Continuing their success in the second set, the Orediggers held the Battlin' Bears to just a .079 attack percentage and outscored Rocky 25-16. The Orediggers led the entirety of the third set to complete the sweep with a 25-21 win.

Rocky's Miranda Gallagher led the Battlin' Bears' scoring attack with 12 kills while Daniella Russell and Monique Rodriguez each recorded six. Natalie Hilderman had 25 assists.

The Orediggers were led by the pair of Karina Mickelson and Gena McMillan who each recorded 12 kills. Maureen Jessop added an additional 11 kills with 14 digs. McKenna Kaelber had a match-high 46 assists.

The Battlin' Bears will return home to play MSU-Northern on November 7.
