Mesa Williams, Zaccheus Darko-Kelly Frontier Conference basketball players of the week

WHITEFISH -- Montana Tech's Mesa Williams and University of Providence's Zaccheus Darko-Kelly were named the Frontier Conference basketball players of the week, the league announced on Monday.

Williams, the former White Sulphur Springs standout, led the Orediggers to a 2-0 record over the weekend. She averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assist and 1.5 steals per game in Tech's 109-32 win over Salish Kootenai and 89-65 victory against the College of Idaho. She made 13 of 24 field goals and was 2-of-6 shooting behind the 3-point line. The 5-foot-10 also connected on 15 of 17 free throws in the wins.

Williams and the Orediggers return to action Saturday against Cal Maritime (Calif.) with tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.

Darko-Kelly, a Missoula Sentinel graduate, led No. 12 UP to a pair of wins -- 115-89 against the University of Lethbridge and 82-72 over the University of Calgary. Darko-Kelly averaged 25 points, six rebounds, 4.5 assists and two steals for Steve Keller's Argos. The 6-foot-6 junior forward made 12 of 25 field goals, including a 5-of-13 performance from behind the 3-point line, while sinking an impressive 21 of 22 free throws.

Darko-Kelly and the Argos welcome Providence University College & Theological Seminary to the McLaughlin Center on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m.
