Mesa Williams, Taylor England named preseason all-conference

The Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced the 2019-20 Preseason All-Conference Teams. Both men’s and women’s teams appeared on the preseason lists. Mesa Williams and Taylor England were both selected for the preseason honor.

Williams, a junior guard/forward, earned second team all-conference last season and was an All-America honorable mention. The White Sulpher Springs native led the Orediggers in scoring (13.2 pts) and ranked fifth in the conference. Williams shot 53.8 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from beyond the arc

England, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, was selected second team all-conference and was an All-America honorable mention. The Helena, Montana native led the Frontier in double-doubles (10), Field Goal Percentage (59.9 percent), Total Rebounds (256), Blocks (1.25 BPG) and was third in Steals (54). England led the Orediggers in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game.

Montana Tech women’s basketball opens the season this Saturday when the host the University of Calgary. The men start October 25 with the Fall Classic hosted at the HPER Complex.

Emilee Maldonado from the University of Providence was chosen as the preseason women’s Player of the Year. Carroll College’s Dane Warp was chosen as the men’s preseason Player of the Year.

The preseason all-conference teams were selected by the league’s coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
