HAVRE -- Tamera O'Leary, a senior at Havre High, has signed a letter of intent to run cross country for the Montana State University-Northern women's cross-country team beginning in the fall of 2021.

O'Leary, the daughter of Tim and Halley O'Leary, is a four-time state qualifier in cross country at Havre High, where she is also the 2020 Homecoming queen and current member of Leadership High School and Blue Pony tennis.

O'Leary said she is most looking forward to going all out in school and sport next year and she is very grateful for all the support she's experienced from family, friends, teammates, coaches and teachers. She plans to major in Integrated Health Sciences and focus on prerequisite courses for admission into a dental hygiene program.

"I've been most impressed with Tamera's optimism and support of her teammates," said MSUN cross country coach Chad Spangler. "I really appreciate having that kind of effect on my teams. I've also observed her confidence and comfort with running in the 21 minute-area. She knows we're going to have shake that up a little and I think she's prepared to work on that this summer. I'm really looking forward to working with her."
