Frontier Conference announces schedule for basketball playoffs

WHITEFISH -- The Providence men and Carroll College women are the No. 1 seeds for the Frontier Conference basketball playoffs, which begin Thursday with first-round games.

Providence's men finished with a 15-2 record in Frontier play to clinch the league's regular-season title. Carroll College (13-5 conference) is the second seed in the men's bracket, followed by Montana Tech (12-8), MSU-Northern (6-11), Montana Western (6-12) and Rocky Mountain College (1-15). Both Providence and Carroll receive first-round byes in the playoffs.

The Carroll women clinched the regular-season Frontier title with a 13-1 mark in league play. Providence was second with a 9-4 conference record. Both the Saints and Argos will receive first-round byes in the playoffs. Montana Western (12-8 conference) is the third seed, followed by MSU-Northern (5-10), Montana Tech (5-13) and Rocky Mountain College (1-9).

The playoffs begin on Thursday for both the men and women, with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday. The women's championship is Monday, March 1, and the men's championship is Tuesday, March 2. The higher seed will host every game.

The men's bracket opens with No. 6-seeded Rocky Mountain College traveling to No. 3 Montana Tech and fifth-seeded Montana Western visiting No. 4 MSU-Northern. In the women's bracket, No. 6 Rocky will play at No. 3 Western, and No. 5 Tech will travel to No. 4 Northern. All women's playoff games will tip off at 5 p.m. and men's games at 7 p.m.
