Five Rocky Mountain College athletes earn player of the week honors

Five student-athletes from Rocky Mountain College were named players of the week in their respective sports and leagues on Monday.

The Battlin' Bears swept the Frontier Conference cross country honors, with Ruth Chepsat and Jackson Duffey named women's and men's runners of the week. Chepsat, a junior from Eldoret, Kenya, placed seventh at the Montana Open at the University of Montana, finishing her 5K in a time of 18 minutes, 33 seconds. Chepsat was the highest-placing NAIA runner at the meet.

Duffey finished fourth at the Montana Open, crossing the 8K finish line in 25:36. A junior from Ronan, he was the top NAIA runner in the field.

RMC golfer Claire Wright took home the Frontier Conference's women's golfer of the week award after the freshman took medalist honors at the Lewis-Clark State College Warrior Fall Invitational in Lewiston, Idaho. Wright notched a 7-over-par 151 after shooting rounds of 76 and 75 at the tournament. Wright helped the Battlin' Bears to a runner-up team finish.

For the second week in a row, Natalie Hilderman was named the Frontier's volleyball setter of the week. The junior from Red Lodge helped the No. 16 Bears stay unbeaten and atop the conference standings with sweeps over No. 20 Providence and MSU-Northern. Hilderman averaged 10 assists and 2.33 digs per set in the wins.

The Cascade Collegiate Conference named Rocky men's soccer student-athlete Sky Swenson the Red Lion men's soccer offensive player of the week. The Berlin, Germany native notched three goals and an assist over the weekend, scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over Southern Oregon. Swenson has six goals this season.
