Five Carroll College athletes named Frontier Conference players of the week

HELENA -- Five Carroll College student-athletes were selected as the best in the Frontier Conference for their respective competitions last week.

Matthew Burgess, a 5-foot-11, 195 lbs, freshman running back from Junction City, Oregon, was selected as the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week in football. In Carroll College's 33-29 home upset conference win over No. 22 Montana Western, Burgess rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. He caught two passes for 22 yards. His 75-yard touchdown run in the second half was a momentum changer.

The award is Burgess' second of the season.

Sydnee Nowlen of Carroll College was selected as the Frontier Conference Women's Golfer of the Week. Nowlen is a junior from Missoula, Montana. She scored three points to lead the Carroll women to match-play victory over Montana Tech at the Green Meadow Golf Course in Helena, Mont.

Josh Neth of Carroll College was selected as the Frontier Conference Men's Golfer of the Week. Neth is a sophomore from Belgrade, Montana. He scored three points to lead Carroll to an 8-7 match-play victory over Montana Tech played at the Green Meadow golf course in Helena, Mont.

Reghan Worley of Carroll College was selected the Frontier Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Worley is a freshman from Evanston, Wyoming. At the Montana Western Open hosted by Montana Western in Dillon, Mont., she finished second out of 41 runners in the 5K with a time of 18:50. Worley was the highest finishing Frontier Conference runner in the meet.

It's Worley's second weekly award of the season.

Spencer Swaim of Carroll College was selected as the Frontier Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.Swaim is a sophomore from Spokane, Wash. At the Montana Western Open hosted by Montana Western in Dillon, Mont., Swaim finished first out of 38 runners in the 8K with a time of 26:39.
