GREAT FALLS – The University of Providence track and field team announced the signing of Megan Hanson Monday afternoon.

Hanson is a senior at Lincoln County High School in Eureka. She was named all-state four times – twice in javelin, once in shot put and once in discus. Hanson also played basketball in high school, being named first-team all-conference as a senior.

"Megan is a very accomplished shot put, discus and javelin thrower," UP assistant coach Alan Cress said. "We plan on having Megan pick up the hammer and weight throw events at the collegiate level. She has a fantastic work ethic in the weight room, as well, and I have no doubt that she has what it takes to be extremely competitive at the Frontier Conference and NAIA national levels."

Hanson is also a member of the National Honor Society, was named to the Honor Roll and named academic all-state. She plans to study biology at Providence.
