GREAT FALLS -- For the second time in a week, the Fighting Saints took the Warriors of Lewis-Clark State College to five sets.

And for the second time in a week, the Saints persevered when it mattered most.

The Saints hung tough to defeat No. 4-seed LCSC 3-2 on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament. Carroll won 25-14, 23-25, 15-25, 26-24 and 15-12.

Each side won a set convincingly and narrowly -- and then the Saints broke through in the final showdown.

The Saints took advantage of 28 LCSC errors and also leveraged a 12-6 blocking margin to turn the tide.

Taelyr Krantz and Sophia Spoja led the Saints with 13 kills apiece. Krantz also led the Saints with eight blocks.

Ali Williams had a team-high 37 assists while Ayla Carpenter led the Saints with 19 digs.

The Saints, as the No. 5-seed, will learn of their opponent Saturday late Friday evening.
