CALDWELL, Idaho -- Carroll College limited College of Idaho to just 14-of-51 shooting to top the Yotes 48-34 in a women's basketball defensive slugfest Friday.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well, but the Saints gradually pulled away -- building a 16-8 lead at the end of one and a 30-17 halftime advantage. Carroll made 11 of 24 field goals in the first half before cooling off in the second, making just eight of 31 attempts.

Christine Denny was solid, recording a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints. Maddie Geritz added 10 points and six offensive rebounds. As a team, Carroll grabbed 18 offensive rebounds to score 13 second-chance points to overcome 23 turnovers and a 0-for-13 performance from 3-point range.

Carroll's defense shut down the COI offense, forcing 27 Yotes turnovers.

It's the second consecutive win for Carroll (5-3), which will next play Eastern Oregon at 3 p.m. Saturday.
