Carroll College takes multiple Frontier honors; Providence's Emilee Maldonado player of the year

WHITEFISH — After winning the Frontier Conference regular-season and tournament championships, the Carroll College women's basketball team received a number of accolades from the league on Tuesday.

Fighting Saints coach Rachelle Sayers was named the Frontier's coach of the year, sophomore Jamie Pickens was selected the newcomer of the year, sophomore Maddie Geritz was the co-sixth player of the year and three more players received all-conference recognition. Christine Denny and Dani Wagner joined Pickens on the all-conference first team, while Sienna Swannack was a second-team all-conference pick. Molly McDermott was selected for Carroll's Champions of Character honor, as well.

University of Providence senior guard Emilee Maldonado was selected the Frontier Conference player of the year and was joined by teammate Parker Esary on the all-conference first team. Brynley Fitzgerald of Montana Western was also a first-team all-conference selection.

Maddy Dixon of Providence and L’Tia Lawrence of MSU-Northern were named co-freshmen of the year. Lawrence also shared the sixth player of the year honor with Gertiz.

Montana Western senior guard Paige Holmes repeated as defensive player of the year.
