BILLINGS — Rocky Mountain College’s Trent Nobach has decided to hang up the football cleats for good.
Nobach had a nasty injury on the gridiron in 2023 that caused him to miss the better part of two seasons.

“I think there's just been a lot of change in terms of my life and the Rocky program. With everything going on I thought football, maybe that chapter was coming to a close," Nobach said. "This opportunity presented itself, and how cool is it that I get to play both football and golf in college."
The former Battlin’ Bears quarterback plays off nearly a scratch handicap, so don’t let him fool you that this is some hobby. He’s a legitimate stick that should prove helpful to coach Nathan Bailey and his new Rocky teammates.
“I haven't played competitive golf since high school. Now coming back into it it's a different animal, but it's so much fun," Nobach said. "It's been a pretty good summer and I'm grateful for that."
Nobach, who grew up on a golf course in western Washington, says he’s been golfing for as long as he can remember. Now it’s going to help pay for the final year of his education, as he prepares for the next chapter of life.
“Hopefully graduate with my Master's in accounting and be able to sit for the CPA and start there," Nobach said. "Just get back to family after I'm done (in Billings) for a little bit, then who knows after that."
After staring down 300-pound defensive linemen from the pocket, it’s unlikely this guy gets rattled by anything on the course.
