PORTLAND, Ore. – Montana State University Billings senior guard Tyler Green has been named the men's basketball player of the week by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Green scored a career-high 38 points against Saint Martin’s University and tied for the GNAC record for 3s made in a single game with 12 in the 96-67 point win.

The 12 3s tie the mark set by Alaska Anchorage’s Kyle Fossman in 2014 and is the most 3-pointers made this season in all divisions of NCAA men’s basketball, including Division I. Green finished shooting 13 of 18 from the field and 12 of 17 from beyond the arc.

“Tyler had a great weekend and is very deserving of the recognition,” said head coach Mick Durham. “Obviously his 3-point shooting against SMU is a big part, but his leadership and presence are a critical part of this team. We are very happy for him.”

Green is now tied for fourth place in MSUB history for 3-point shots made in a single game with Hall of Famers Reece Gilko, Markus Hallgrimson and Cameron Munoz, truly elite company in MSUB’s rich history. Green’s previous game-high was 34 points against Rocky Mountain College on Dec. 8, 2018 in which he made a then career-high eight 3-point shots.

Following up his record-breaking night, Green scored 19 points with two rebounds and two assists in a loss to Seattle Pacific University. Green is now fifth in the GNAC averaging 16.3 points per game. He is sixth in assists (3.5 per game), second in 3-point field goals made (3.5 per game) and first in free throw percentage (88.9 percent).
