PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Jeanann Lemelin earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference player of the week in an announcement made by the league Monday afternoon. Lemelin is the first women’s basketball player to win the award this season.

Lemelin scored a career high 30 points and tied a school record with eight made 3-pointers to assist the Montana State University Billings women's basketball team in a win over Saint Martin's Saturday night at Alterowitz Gymnasium. Lemelin scored seven threes in the second half alone and surpassed her previous career high point total by 10.

“I was pleased to hear Jeanann was recognized as the GNAC player of the week,” said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. “Jeanann entered our program basically as a walk on and has progressed steadily during her career. She plays with great passion and is a strong leader for our team. Jeanann has been our top defender for a long time so it was awesome to see her also being recognized for her offensive abilities. Our team needed her to step up and she delivered with the best week of her career.”

Lemelin shot 8-for-11 from the 3-point line Saturday and 10-for-16 overall. Thursday night, she posted 18 points against Seattle Pacific with four from beyond the arc. Combining the two games, Lemelin shot an impressive 67-percent from 3-point range. She also collected four steals and four assists.

The Yellowjackets moved back above the .500 mark Saturday and are currently 10-9 overall, 5-5 in the conference. They will continue conference play Thursday at Northwest Nazarene University at 5:15 p.m. local time.
