GLENDIVE - The cross country team competed in their first meet of the season last week. The Buccaneers raced at Amend Park at the Frontier Preview Open in Billings against 9 other teams.

Kayla Parisien finished with a time of 22:44.87, less than 30 seconds off the National Qualifying time of 22:17 needed to race in Albuquerque in November. On the men's side, Zach Austin came across the finish line first for the Buccaneers with a first time at the 8k distance of 32:00:54 and finished 53rd overall.

Overall, the Buccaneers are ready to continue to work hard as the season is young, the team has some big goals to reach and are ready to put in the work. Coach Chase said, "This is a great starting point for our team. They are young and continuing to learn. We are ready to put in the work to excel as we continue through this season and as we look into the track season."

The Cross Country Team races again this Friday in Great Falls at the Eagle Falls Golf Course. Men race at 11:00am and women will compete directly following the men race at 11:45am.
