MILES CITY -- Miles Community College head baseball coach Jeff Brabant has announced the signing of Grant Gabbert for the 2021-22 season. Gabbert is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound outfielder from Horizon High School in Thorton, Colorado.

Gabbert is the son of Jessica and Tom Gabbert and is entering his senior season for Horizon under coach Ralph Garcia. Gabbert also plays for Derek Hines and Premier West baseball during the summer. He had an exceptional junior year for both programs, hitting just north of .400 with a high on-base percentage. He is also a run-scoring machine from the leadoff spot. During his 2019 campaign, Gabbert's 17u team won the state championship.

While at MCC, Gabbert plans on working toward his degree in engineering.

"I chose MCC because I feel like I will be able to improve as a baseball player and win a lot of games," Gabbert said.

"Grant comes to us from Premier West under the tutelage of Derek Hines. Coach Hines and I have connected on many players that have donned our uniform and I am thrilled to get another Hines product," Brabant said. "One of my former assistants, Coach McKinney, spotted Grant and liked what he saw. A few days later I was able to see Grant play and he showed me everything we are looking for in a player and how he handles his game. His approach at the plate and his reads in the outfield will fit our style to a T. Grant is also a great student and has great character. He will fit our mold in our uniform."
