GLENDIVE - Dawson Community College split a pair of softball games with Garden City Community College. The Bucs are 6-2 this early season scoring 52 runs.

Dawson Takes Blow-Out Victory, 12-1

Dawson Community College Softball had all cylinders firing on offense on Tuesday, winning big over Garden City Community College 12-1. Dawson got on the board in the first inning. Maycen O'Neal singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Lady Buccaneers were up four runs in the second inning. Dawson big bats were led by Fallyn Marshall, Riley Arnold, O'Neal, and Shelby Martin, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Martin earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Dawson. The righty allowed five hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking one.

Kearsley took the loss for Garden City. The hurler allowed 12 hits and 12 runs over five innings, striking out five.

The Lady Bucs hit two home runs on the day. O'Neal put one out in the fourth inning. Martin had a long ball in the first inning.

DCC collected 12 hits on the day. Marshall , Arnold, Marti n, O'Neal, and Ashlynne Copinga each had multiple hits for Dawson. Marshall went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Dawson in hits. The Lady Bucs didn't commit a single error in the field. Deven Creech had the most chances in the field with eight.

Game 2:

Walk-Off Seals Win For Garden City Against Dawson

Dawson fell to Garden City 7-4 on Tuesday on the final play of the game. Garden City Community College trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Maestretti homered on a 2-1 count, scoring four runs.

Dawson lost despite out-hitting Garden City nine to three. In the first inning, Garden City got their offense started. An error scored one run for Garden City. Reid earned the win for Garden City. The fireballer went six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Shelby Martin took the loss for Dawson Community College. The righty lasted one-third of an inning, allowing one hit and two runs while walking zero. Alexa Kappel started the game for the Lady Buccaneers. The righthander allowed two hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three. Dawson racked up nine hits in the game. Fallyn Marshall, Kappel, and Martin each managed multiple hits for the Lady Bucs. Martin, Kappel, and Marshall all had two hits to lead Lady Buccaneers.

Maestretti went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Garden City Community College in hits.
