FAIRFIELD — After an upset win in last Saturday's Class B state semifinal over defending state champion Fairfield, the Manhattan Tigers are more than ready to host the title game on Saturday for a chance to win a state championship.
That win over Fairfield was a huge momentum boost, which Manhattan head coach Chris Grabowska knew was in the works all season long. The commitment his team showed to getting better every day has given the Tigers a shot to make their mark among the best to ever represent Manhattan.
“They’ve gotten behind them all year long. Our kids have put in tons of work, starting all the way back in the summer. They’re finally starting to come through," said Grabowska. "They’re a great bunch of kids, they play for each other. And it’s going to be exciting to have a state championship in Manhattan."
The Tigers host the undefeated Eureka Lions Saturday at 1 p.m. Eureka has won two of the past three Class B state championships, winning consecutive titles in 2016 and 2017.
