HIGHWOOD — Zack Solomon scored six touchdowns and the defense clamped down late as Denton-Geyser-Stanford beat Geraldine-Highwood 60-30 on Saturday in 6-Man action in Highwood.

The Bearcats had momentum early after scoring on their first play from scrimmage and adding a safety on defense. DGS built a 34-14 lead in the first half behind a strong running attack from Solomon, but Geraldine-Highwood responded with an Ian Moline 20-yard rushing touchdown (his second score of the game) right before halftime.

The Rivals then punched back again in the third when Orrin Harris scored on a 35-yard rushing TD for his second score, which cut the deficit to just four.

But Solomon would rush for three TD's in the second half and the Bearcats held the Rivals to zero points in the fourth to complete the win. DGS's Jacob Pollari and Damon Raprager each recorded a receiving TD from quarterback Ace Becker, while Kain Vincent added a fourth quarter rushing TD.

Denton-Geyser-Stanford moves to 2-0 on the season and will face Centerville next week. Geraldine-Highwood falls to 1-1, and looks to get back on track against Grass Range-Winnett.
