FLORENCE — The high school football season officially kicks off Friday night.
The Florence Falcons will begin their 2019 season on the big stage as they will take on Jefferson under the lights at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
The past two seasons the Falcons have failed to make it out of the first round of the Class B playoffs, but making the playoffs is a step in the right direction after missing the playoffs in 2015 and 2016.
Head coach Pat Duchien says getting that first playoff win is a big hurdle this team is trying to clear, but also getting a home game for the fans. But for now the Falcons aren't focused on the playoffs. They know this first game Friday night is what lays the groundwork for the rest of the season.
"The first game is always the tone-setter for the season. We are looking to come out and throw some punches, get after it, clean up some stuff that we haven't been able to clean up with the lack of film. Just put that first week on film and get better and better each week," said Duchien.
