BOULDER -- Manhattan defeated Jefferson 27-6 on Friday night to clinch the Southern B championship and the accompanying No. 1 seed in the upcoming Class B playoffs.

In a first half filled with punts and turnovers, the Tigers scored as the clock expired on the first half, as Lane Veltkamp found Kyle Hotvedt on a fourth-and-goal from the 7-yard line, giving Manhattan a 7-0 lead at the intermission. Jaxson Yanzick returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown to put the Panthers on the board, but the Tigers were too much to overcome.

The win pushed Manhattan to 6-0 in conference play and 8-0 overall, as the Tigers join Fairfield (8-0), Eureka (8-0) and Red Lodge (8-0) as the unbeatens entering next weekend's playoffs.
