SHELBY -- Shelby didn't need long to start the running clock and clinch the 8-Man North 'B' sub-conference on Friday night, rushing out to a 35-0 lead in the first quarter en route to 69-21 win over Chester-Joplin-Inverness.

The Coyotes got two special teams touchdowns in the opening quarter -- one on a block, scoop and score by Cameron Brusven and one on a long return from Tabris Correa -- as they flexed their muscles in all three phases of the game. Brusven and Bryce Lee added rushing touchdowns in the early onslaught, as well.

"We're just trying to get better each week. I know every team's trying to get, but this group has really done a nice job of that," said Shelby coach Mike White. "We're looking forward to the challenge. They're the No. 2 team out of the 'A' division down there, and (Belt coach Jeff Graham) will have them ready, and we're looking forward to it."

Shelby (4-1 overall, 3-0 conference) will conclude its regular season next week against Belt. The 8-Man North conference playoffs begin the following week.
