CLYDE PARK -- Kaden Acosta threw for 359 yards and six touchdowns to help push Shields Valley past Broadview-Lavina, 50-30, on Friday night and give the Rebels control of the 6-Man South.

Acosta started the game with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Aidan Jenkins, his first of three touchdown receptions on the day. Broadview-Lavina, which entered the game outscoring its opponents 218-0, answered back on a 10-yard touchdown run by Hank Tuszynski. Tuszynski had four rushing touchdowns for the Pirates.

Acosta and the Rebels took to the air frequently throughout the first half, as Dylan Flatt hauled in a 15-yard touchdown catch and Jenkins added scoring catches of 20 and 46 yards, giving Shields Valley a three-score lead at the break.

Broadview-Lavina opened the second half with a 12-yard touchdown run by Tuszynski to cut the Rebels' lead to two possessions, but Acosta hit Flatt for a 41-yard score to push the lead back. Broadview-Lavina cut the Shields Valley lead to two possessions three separate times in the second half but couldn't knock it down to a one-possession game. Tusynski added scoring runs from 1 and 10 yards in the second half for the Pirates.

Flatt scored from 32 yards out on the ground then caught a 1-yard pass from Acosta to give the Rebels a three-score lead again late in the second half. Jenkins punctuated the game with a 10-yard scoring run.

Along with Acosta's six scoring tosses and 350-plus yards, he only threw two incompletions, completing 22 of 24 passes. Jenkins had 11 total touches resulting in 226 yards and four touchdowns, three through the air. Flatt rounded out the Rebels' three-headed monster with 133 yards and four total touchdowns.

Shields Valley improves to 5-0 (4-0 6-Man South) and will host Denton-Geyser-Stanford on Oct. 2. Broadview-Lavina drops to 3-1 (3-1) and will host Bridger on Oct. 2 with the conference's No. 2 seed likely on the line.
