HARLOWTON -- With just 53 seconds remaining, Roy-Winifred's Brody Geer plunged into the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown run, pushing the Outlaws ahead of Harlowton 50-45. An interception in the end zone as time expired by Asher Edwards preserved Roy-Winifred's win on Friday night in Harlowton.
The two sides traded blows throughout the game, with Harlowton building a 26-22 advantage at halftime. The Engineers scored on a 39-yard run by Johnny Mysse to take a 32-22 lead. Mysse then hauled in a long touchdown reception from Colter Wolstad to push Harlowton's lead to 38-22 midway through the third quarter.
But Roy-Winifred would rally. Geer scored on a 3-yard run and Justin Stulc hauled in a 17-yard scoring grab to trim the Harlowton lead to 38-36 with 1:43 left in the third quarter.
Harlowton pushed its lead back to two scores on an 11-yard run by Sivad Davis with 6:16 to play. Tyler Fordyce quickly led the Outlaws back down the field and capped the drive with a 10-yard scoring run to cut the deficit back to three, 45-42, just 59 seconds after Davis' touchdown.
Roy-Winifred got the ball back with just under three minutes to play and a chance to grab the lead. Fordyce again navigated the Outlaws down the field before Geer's game-winning score.
Roy-Winifred will travel to Richey-Lambert next weekend, while Harlowton hosts Valley Christian on Saturday.
