OGDEN, Utah – Montana State redshirt junior Ty Mogan was selected as the Big Sky Conference Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 18, for his performance at the MSU Cross Country Classic.

Mogan easily finished ahead of the field as he placed first at the MSU-hosted meet on Saturday at Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman. Mogan completed the 5-mile race in a time of 24:51.37, more than 25 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the meet. He helped lead the Bobcats to a first-place team finish over Big Sky foes Idaho State and Montana.

Saturday’s meet was the first for Mogan as a member of MSU’s cross country team since 2016, after he sat out the 2017 fall slate as a redshirt. During the 2016 season, Mogan was the Bobcats’ top finisher in all five meets he competed in that year.

Mogan is the Bobcats’ first Big Sky Athlete of the Week in cross country since 2015 when Justice Lamer was named the award recipient.

The Bobcats are scheduled to appear in two meets from Sept. 28-29. MSU will participate in the Montana Invitational in Missoula on Sept. 28, while a select group of Bobcats will travel to Minnesota to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 29.
