MISSOULA — Two weeks ago, Montana’s Sayeed Pridgett was awarded the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball player of the week.

On Tuesday, the league announced that Grizzly big man Jamar Akoh earned this week’s honor.

Akoh finished the week with impressive play on both sides of the ball on the Grizzlies’ way to a big win over Weber State at home, moving UM to 14-6 overall and 7-2 in Big Sky play.

While Akoh did have the spotlight this week, head coach Travis DeCuire said it could be any guy at any time, and the team is doing a great job finding the man on a roll.

“We’ve got four guys in double figures. I think they’ve all taken turns having big games, which the balance has always been the strength of my programs,” DeCuire said. “So, it’s important that everybody is ready to go. Whoever gets the hot hand, we’re going to have to ride them out. Fortunately for us, it was Jamar last week. I think defensively right now we are coming together playing better for longer stretches. A lot of that has to do with our health, though, and then some guys that have been out are conditioning. We’re headed in the right direction.”
