MISSOULA – The Montana Lady Griz have just broken into conference play and they’re looking stronger every game.
After going 5-4 in non-conference against some tough opponents, the Lady Griz have started 2-0 in the Big Sky Conference with wins over Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. Both of those were home games, and the Lady Griz now have their first road test ahead of them with Sacramento State on Thursday and Portland State on Saturday.
Coach Shannon Schweyen says the addition of Arizona transfer Sammy Fatkin has led to a lot of the team’s early success.
“Definitely just more options. I mean, it’s so nice to feel like you can keep them fresh going in and out. We shouldn’t be making a lot of tired mistakes,” Schweyen said. “And then Sam just gives us a lot of length on the perimeter, which is always nice to have. She’s still getting comfortable with our system and she’s just going to keep getting better and better all the time.”
