MISSOULA — Emma Stockholm has played a big part in Montana’s 2-0 start in the Big Sky Conference. Stockholm had nine points and nine rebounds in the conference opener win over Northern Arizona last week.
Then on New Year’s Eve against Southern Utah Stockholm dropped 20 points, going 8 of 12 from the floor with six boards in just 19 minutes.
Not only has Stockholm been impressive on the offensive side, but the defensive side, as well, both inside and on the perimeter.
“It’s definitely an attitude,” Stockholm said of playing defense. “Everyone can do it, but it’s just how our coaches hark and hark on us. And finally, we’re just like, ‘All right, I need to get it done.’ This summer I worked my butt off. If I wanted to play and start I had to work for it and so I knew this was my time to shine and here I am. I couldn’t thank (coach Shannon Schweyen) enough for the time she’s giving me. So, it means a lot.”
