Montana Grizzlies need to be stronger in the fourth if they want to win

MISSOULA – The Montana Grizzlies are coming off one of their tougher losses in program history. While UC Davis was the favorite, the Griz had more than a chance to grab the win on Saturday.

Montana took a 21-3 lead into the locker room at half and took a one-score lead into the fourth, but things fell apart. The Aggies trounced over the Griz in the fourth, scoring five touchdowns in less than eight minutes of play. UC Davis ultimately pulled away for a 49-21 Big Sky Conference football win.

UM coach Bobby Hauck knows the team needs to clean up play at the end of games if it wants to win again in 2018.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but for the third time this year we took the lead into the fourth quarter and didn’t hold on, and we need to find a away and learn how to hold onto leads, extend the leads in the fourth quarter, rather than let the game get away,” Hauck said. “We are not making enough plays on either side of the ball, and certainly it’s not an effort deal, so we just need to play a little better in the fourth quarter.”
