MISSOULA – The Montana Grizzlies are entering Week 2 coming off of a big win over Northern Iowa on Saturday night.

The Griz came out hot on both sides of the ball in their first half of play in the new season. But both the offense and defense lost momentum in the second half and couldn’t get much of anything going, giving up 23 points and scoring none.

The Griz just squeaked out the win, 26-23, and that win puts them at No. 14 in the newly released FCS poll.

While the Griz come into Week 2 as the favorites, Drake had its first game canceled after one drive. UM coach Bobby Hauck says that gives the Griz a slight disadvantage without studying film, while his team still has a lot to improve on.

“We don’t have any film on them to prepare for — they’ve got that advantage, which is significant,” Hauck said. “So we’ll be guessing again this week as to what we’ll see.”

“I just think we got to look at it like preparing any other week — doesn’t matter who we’re playing or who the opponent is,” said defensive end Jesse Sims. “The next game is the most important one, so we’re just going to prepare like we would any other week.”
