MISSOULA – One group of Grizzlies only gets to compete at home once during the season. They picked a perfect night to ride on Friday at the Western Montana Fairgrounds.

The Unversity of Montana held the first round of their Spring College Rodeo. Griz star Tyler Turko, the top ranked college saddle bronc rider in the nation, picked up another go-around win with a 78 point ride.

Montana’s Trevin Fox tied for the best time in steer wrestling with Montana State’s Carson King, with both scoring 5.3 seconds.

Other winners included MSU-Northern’s Tara Stimpson in breakaway roping (3.1 seconds), and Montana State’s Will Powell in tie-down roping (10.3 seconds), a St. Ignatius native riding close to home.

The Griz Spring Rodeo concludes with another round at 7:00 Saturday night.
