BOZEMAN – The Montana State University women’s basketball team adds an all-conference honoree to its roster as 6-foot forward Fallyn Freije has signed her financial aid agreement to join the Bobcats heading into the 2018-19 season, announced head coach Tricia Binford on Monday, March 26.

Freije, a two-time All-Big Sky Conference selection, will transfer to MSU from the University of North Dakota. The Edmore, N.D., native will sit out the 2018-19 campaign under NCAA rules and will have one year of eligibility remaining.

“We’re thrilled Fallyn will be a part of the Bobcat family,” Binford said. “There is instant respect in the fact she’s proven herself consistently in the Big Sky Conference.

“Fallyn is a true competitor. She’s a fantastic student-athlete and represents our core values and the culture of our program.”

Freije has previously been selected as a two-time time honorable mention selection by the Big Sky Conference. As a junior during the 2017-18 season, Freije averaged per game career highs in points (13.2), rebounds (7.7) and minutes played (28.6). The forward recorded single-game highs of 26 points and 13 rebounds over the course of her junior campaign, while she went to the foul line 123 times, double the amount of MSU’s leader in the category a season ago. Freije registered 17 double-digit scoring outputs.

“She adds instant experience to our team,” Binford said. “She’s familiar with our conference and I love her versatility. Her style of game and her strengths fit our style very well.”

Freije played three seasons for the Fighting Hawks and was a two-time All-Big Sky Academic team selection. She played in 90 games and started in 58 of her appearances at UND. Freije has recorded 838 points, is a 41.5 percent shooter from the field and has amassed 505 rebounds over the course of her collegiate career.

Prior to her arrival in Grand Forks, Freije was a four-time all-state selection and North Dakota Miss Basketball finalist for Lakota-Edmore High School. She played club basketball for Northern Lites and was a teammate with former Bobcat Riley Nordgaard.
