BOZEMAN — Spring football season is under way at Montana State and the Bobcats are already making changes to their coaching staff, moving DeNarius McGhee from the head of the quarterbacks unit to running backs coach and making new pass game coordinator Bob Cole the new quarterbacks coach.
McGhee, a former standout under center at MSU, joined the staff in 2017 and has spent much of his time working on rising junior Chris Murray’s game. The former two-time Big Sky Conference MVP now makes the shift to manning a new-look backfield, anchored by senior Logan Jones. McGhee fills the void left by former running backs coach Michael Pitre, who left the program at the end of the fall.
Cole is a newcomer to the program, joining in January, but is quickly gaining responsibility on Montana State’s staff. Cole has been a coordinator at seven different Division I programs, including Big Sky squads Portland State and Montana.
