Kelly Hooper named Big Sky Golfer of the Week

OGDEN, U.T. – he Big Sky Conference announced Montana State’s Kelly Hooper as its Women’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, Feb. 28, following her first-place finish at the Grand Canyon Invitational.

The sophomore from Spokane, Wash., claimed medalist honors by topping Utah Valley’s Carley Dehlin after two playoff holes on Sunday. Hooper and Dehlin tied atop the individual leaderboard at the GCU Invite with each shooting a 219.

Hooper completed the tournament by firing rounds of 70-76-73, which was the fourth-best three-round mark in the MSU women’s golf program’s history. Her victory was the first of her collegiate career and the 14th ever by a Bobcat. She completed the win behind 10 birdies over the course of 54 holes and shot 2-under on the back nine during the third round.

Hooper currently leads Montana State with a 74.53 scoring average. Her previous best finish was a tie for third at the MSU-hosted Battle at Old Works in Anaconda, Mont., on Sept. 12.

The Bobcats return to play on March 5 at the Battle at Boulder Creek in Boulder City, Nev.
