BOZEMAN – After starting 4-0 in the Big Sky Conference, the Montana State Bobcat men’s basketball team has gone 1-6 in conference play. But there is one factor that can fix it, Harald Frey.
In the last four games, the sophomore point guard has scored double digits in only one of them. When Frey scores single digits in Big Sky contests, the Cats have gone .500. Frey is the team’s second leading-scorer at 13.5 points per game, but in order for MSU to turn things around, more of the offensive production needs to come at the hands of the Norway native.
“We’ve talked about how we can’t go into a game where he’s taking five shots against Northern Colorado, so we have to get him more shots there,” said Bobcats head coach Brian Fish. “So that’s on me to make sure he gets a few more looks.”
Frey is extremely capable of handling an increased workload on offense. In fact, it’s welcomed by the Cats. Frey has scored more than 15 points nine times this season, including a 30-point performance against Southern Utah.
“Anytime you have a point guard that can do as many things as Harry can do, it really helps you in all facets. I love the way he battled, I love the way he kept going and it just gives you leadership when he does that,” Fish said.
Frey will look to increase his production this week as the Cats face Sacramento State and Portland State at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
