BOZEMAN – A standout Montana State recruit has decided to decommit from the Bobcats. James Williams, a defensive tackle from Aledo High School in Texas, announced in a Twitter post on Thursday night that, after talking with his mother, he has decided to open back up his recruiting options.

Williams announced his commitment to Montana State on July 23. On Dec. 22, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said Williams was “thought to be a hard commit” to Montana State. In November, the second-team all-state lineman received in-state offers from other FCS schools like Houston Baptist and Sam Houston State.

The senior has played varsity football since he was a freshman in high school, starting 63 consecutive games, recording 107 tackles, 19 for loss, and 8.5 sacks while leading his team to its seventh championship appearance in nine years.
