HAVRE — Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Morgan Mason to join the Skylight program next fall. Mason, a 5’8” guard, has helped lead Froid-Medicine Lake to three consecutive Class C State Tournament appearances.

Mason is a two-time All-State and four-time All-Conference selection in basketball. She was also named to the State C All-Tournament team twice. On the volleyball court, Mason was an Honorable Mention All-State performer in 2016, an All-State pick in 2017, and was a three-time All-Conference performer. She was also an Academic All-State selection for four consecutive years.

This season, Mason averaged 9 points, nearly 5 steals, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds per game, while shooting 47-percent from the field.

“What really jumped to me about Morgan is her toughness,” Mouat said. “She is a strong guard who plays extremely hard. She can play a couple of different positions on the floor. I like what she does defensively, and believe that she has a lot of potential to grow her game offensively. We are excited she has chosen to be a Skylight.”

Mason also excels off the court. She was the student body president, FFA president, and a 3-year member of the National Honor Society.

Morgan is the daughter of Heather and Darren “Tater” Mason. Her older sister Alicia is currently a student at MSU-Northern. She plans on majoring in Physical Education with a coaching emphasis at MSU-Northern.
