Wyoming Cowboys at Nevada Wolf Pack on CBS Sports Network Wednesday

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Cowboys hit the road in Mountain West play for the first time this season heading to preseason favorite Nevada on Wednesday for an 8:30 p.m. start on CBS Sports Network. It is the second contest of the MW schedule that sees the Pokes open with the top three teams in the preseason poll.

Rich Waltz will be on the call with Dan Dickau on the color for CBSSN. Fans can listen to the game and follow live stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network. Dave Walsh will have the play-by-play alongside Kevin McKinney on the color.

The Cowboys got their tenth win of the season last Wednesday defeating San Diego State by a score of 82-69 in the Arena-Auditorium. The Pokes hit 12 three pointers in that game for double-digits threes for the first time since the Pacific contest. UW has hit 124 for 8.9 per game for fourth in the MW.

The Pokes are shooting 44 percent from the field and are holding opponents to 42 percent. The Cowboys continue to share the basketball averaging 15.3 assists per game on the season. The Pokes also protect the rim posting 4.2 blocks per game.

The Wolf Pack feature one of the most dynamic offenses in the Mountain West. Nevada averages 81.6 points per game on the season and is outscoring opponents by nearly 13 points per game. A solid shooting team, the Wolf Pack are shooting 48 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the arc.

Nevada shares the basketball as well with 270 assists on the season averaging 16.9 per game, the 270 assists lead the MW. The Wolfpack also take care of the basketball averaging only 10.6 turnovers per night, which is tops in the conference.

The Pokes are led in scoring by senior forward Hayden Dalton, as the big man adds 17.5 points per game and leads the team with 8.1 rebounds per night. He ranks fifth in the MW in rebounding and sixth in scoring. Against SDSU, Dalton scored a career-high 36 points and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds. He also is tied for the team lead in assists at 2.7 per game.

Junior guard Justin James adds 16.0 points per game and is second on the team grabbing 6.4 rebounds per game. He has gotten to the free throw line for UW gong 50-of-59 for 72 percent. Senior forward Alan Herndon adds 12.8 points per game and leads the MW in blocks at 2.1 per game. He is the current leader in career blocks in the MW with 142. Senior guard Louis Adams adds 9.5 points off the bench for UW.

The Wolfpack are led by Caleb Martin, as he averages 19.0 points per game, which leads the league. He has hit 44 three pointers this season, which ranks second on the team. Jordan Caroline adds 17.0 points per game and leads the team grabbing 9.1 rebounds per game. He is shooting 47 percent from the field. Caleb Martin’s twin brother, Cody Martin adds 13 points per game and leads the team with 66 assists on the year.

Wednesday’s game marks the 19th meeting between the two schools in a series that dates back to 1938. Wyoming holds a 13-5 record all-time against Nevada and has gone 5-2 in Reno. Nevada has won the last three games in the series.

The Cowboys return home to host Boise State on Saturday for a 6 p.m. start in the Arena-Auditorium. That game can be seen on AT&T SportsNet.
