FAIRMONT — Make it a clean sweep for Manhattan Christian.

The Eagles’ golf teams swept the boys and girls Class C state team championships on Wednesday at the Fairmont Golf Course at Fairmont Hot Springs. Manhattan Christian also took the top medalist honors in the individual tournaments, with Jillian Frye and Caidin Hill each winning championships.

Frye shot a Day 2 87, besting her opening round by four strokes, to score a 36-hole total of 178. Ennis’ Landri Paladichuk finished runner-up at 183, while Harlowton’s Madison Wasson was third with a 188.

Frye breezed through the front nine Wednesday, posting the best nine-hole score of the tournament with a 41. Her efforts, paired with teammates Alexa VanDyken, who placed eighth with a 201, and Maddie Liudahl, who scored 209, led the Eagles to the girls team title. Manhattan Christian managed a 588 in team points, including an impressive 281 on Wednesday, to defeat second-place Harlowton (642) and third-place Lone Peak (643).

“I’m so proud of my teammates,” Frye said following her individual championship. “Caidin, he’s the (boys) individual champ, to sweep (the boys and girls team titles) is just insane.”

Hill, a freshman, was the only player to card below 80 in the opening round on Tuesday. His 79 was good for a five-stroke lead after the first 18 holes. Hill couldn’t quite duplicate the success on Wednesday but managed an 86, holding off Fairview multiple-sport standout Alex Schriver 165 to 166 for the boys title. Hill struggled late in the round, but was able to string enough putts together when he needed them.

Schriver shot an 81 on Day 2 to close the gap on Hill. Hill’s teammate, Cullen Visser, placed third with a 169, while Caleb Bellach shot a 177 to help the Eagles to the team championship.

“Our coaches do a pretty good job of putting us through good practices and getting us good time at the range,” Hill said. “They’ve got really good drills, but I think (the sweep) is a testament to how we all work together and work towards a common goal.”
