BOZEMAN — It is one of the biggest games of the Big Sky Conference basketball season, as Montana State and Montana will collide in Bozeman for the first Cat-Griz installment of the 2017-18 campaign on Saturday.

Intrigue surrounds both the men’s and women’s matchups, but the women’s game will be particularly interesting. The Bobcats have won four of the past five games against the Grizzlies, but Montana is the suprise team in the conference this season. The Lady Griz have sprinted out to a 5-1 record in conference play, while MSU sits at 3-3.

After losing three straight games in the Big Sky, Montana State snapped its skid in convincing fashion against Sacramento State on Jan. 13. Right after the game, Delany Junkermier was asked about the looming matchup against the Bobcats’ rivals from west of the divide.

“Obviously, they’re going to come out really firing,” she said. “They’re doing pretty well in the Big Sky right now, so (we’re) just treating it like any other game.”

Junkermier has battled injuries this season, but scored 23 points in the game against the Hornets.

The women tip off at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
