BILLINGS – The Billings West Golden Bears put together a complete effort from the opening tip on Thursday night as they upset Bozeman, 50-43, in Eastern AA boys basketball action.

Billings West locked the Hawks down on defense in the first half as it held Bozeman to only 12 first-half points. The Bears led 31-12 after 16 minutes of action.

Bozeman used a 15-5 third-quarter run to cut the deficit to seven points, but West had all the answers in the fourth to hold on for the win.

West is now 3-5 in the Eastern A, while Bozeman fell to 5-3.

The West girls were on the road in Bozeman, but the result was the same.

The Lady Golden Bears have looked the part of a state contender all season, and they proved it once again on Thursday night.

The Golden Bears jumped out to a double-digit halftime lead and cruised to a 59-49 victory.

West is now 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the Eastern AA.
