BOZEMAN — If you watched Bozeman’s Latrell McCutcheon return a kick last fall, you know that the senior is one of the most electric football players in Montana. North Dakota’s Minot State University took notice, and McCutcheon will be bringing that excitement across the border next season.

The Hawks’ standout announced his decision to the NCAA Division II program after visits with them and Rocky Mountain College.

“It seems like a good fit — it kind of seemed like my home away from home. I thought Minot was the right place to go to,” McCutcheon said.

The speedster is relatively new to the game of football, but broke open numerous big plays as both a wide receiver and kick returner. He knows his experience doesn’t stack up to many around him, but he is happy to be given a chance at the next level.

“I’m pretty excited to get another opportunity to keep playing sports because I only played football for two years in high school,” he explained. “The fact that I can go to college — the next level — and play, it means a lot.”

He hopes to add a spark to a Beavers team that finished 3-8 last season.
