VALIER — A good week just got even better for Valier senior Colten Curry.
Just seven days after signing with the Montana Grizzlies, Curry was named to the USA Under-18 National Team and will play in the ninth annual International Bowl against Team Canada on Jan. 17 at AT&T stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Kickoff is 7 p.m. MST.
International Bowl IX features 24 high school and middle school-aged teams across eight nations on three continents. U.S. National Teams will compete against squads representing Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Nordic region, comprised of players and coaches from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
Curry is the only Montana representative on the roster and told MTN Sports last week that he wouldn’t be anywhere without top-notch coaching and support in Valier.
“My coaches, I want to thank them and family to help me get to where I am,” Curry said. “And just want to thank them for helping me out throughout my career.”
U.S. National Team alumni include wide receivers Corey Coleman (Cleveland Browns) and Devin Funchess (Carolina Panthers), running backs Todd Gurley (Los Angeles Rams) and Samaje Perine (Washington Redskins), defensive back Tyrann Mathieu (Arizona Cardinals), offensive lineman Jack Mewhort (Indianapolis Colts), defensive end Stephon Tuitt (Pittsburgh Steelers) and quarterback Jameis Winston (Tampa Bay Buccaneers).
