HAMILTON – It’s a good feeling to be part of an undefeated team, especially on Christmas Eve. Hamilton’s boys basketball team is riding that wave into the new year in this week’s Youth Sports Spotlight.

The Broncs, undefeated and in first place in the Southwestern A, bested Butte Central to end the 2017 portion of their schedule. Hamilton actually served the Maroons their first loss of the season. Both teams carried undefeated records going into the game.

Head coach Travis Blome says that comes down to a focus on teamwork. He says the Broncs all play unselfishly, no one’s looking for personal glory, and seniors Carter Kearns, Tyler Chouinard and Bridger Bauder exemplify leadership on the court, making the Broncs a force to be reckoned with.

The boys are taking their first place position in stride, focusing on one game at a time.

“We’re going to focus more this year. We’re more mature this year than last year, and hopefully we’re going to keep it going throughout the rest of the season,” said Kearns.

The Broncs are eager to get back onto the court Jan. 4 when they’ll face off against Frenchtown.
