BILLINGS – Brody Cress is still red hot.

The 2017 National Finals Rodeo average champion won the saddle bronc title Saturday night at the Chase Hawks Memorial Roughstock Rodeo, scoring 87.5 points on Show Me Again inside Rimrock Auto Arena.

Cress, coming off a second-place finish in the 2017 PRCA world saddle bronc standings, was four points better than the rest of the field. Coburn Bradshaw, who finished one spot behind Cress in the world, finished second Saturday with an 83.5-point ride.

Cress, a 21-year-old from Hillsdale, Wyoming, will now head to the Buck & Ball on New Year’s Eve in Gillette, Wyoming.

Power cowboy Jessy Davis was also a winner Saturday night, scoring 85 points on Sozo to win the Chase Hawks bareback crown. Davis also won the Chase Hawks title in 2014.

Billings’ Justin Miller, who missed a trip to the NFR by one spot this year, tied for third with an 81-point ride. Cowley, Wyoming’s J.R. Vezain only managed a 74 after winning almost $100,000 at the Finals in Las Vegas.

Canadian Jared Parsonage won the bull riding title aboard Lil’ Chubby.
