WORDEN — The Huntley Project Lady Red Devils took a 38-31 lead with three minutes left to play and looked well on their way to a victory.

But Red Lodge’s Portia Cortner had other ideas. Cortner poured in a 3-pointer and knocked down a 10-foot floater to cap a personal 8-0 run with 56 seconds left.

The run gave Red Lodge a 39-38 lead and forced a timeout by Huntley Project.

Out of the timeout, Huntley Project got a clean look at a 3 that rimmed out, but Kamille Reynolds flew in to save the day. Reynolds skied for the rebound and drew the foul on the put back attempt to give herself two free throws.

Reynolds knocked down both free throws for the 40-39 lead and sophomore Emily Poole turned it into a victory with a game-saving block of a 15-foot jump shot.

The Huntley Project boys played before the girls and cruised to a 68-45 win over Red Lodge.
