CHANDLER, Ariz. — The Montana Western Bulldogs played mistake-free basketball to pull out a narrow 84-77 victory against Benedictine University for the team’s opening win in the Cactus Classic on Sunday evening.

The Bulldogs committed just seven turnovers on the night, while forcing 20 Redhawks turnovers. Western forward Brandon Jones led all scorers with 23 points, and added seven rebounds. Dom Robinson, Kooper Kidgell, and Zacceus Darko-Kelly all chipped in with double-digit scoring efforts.

Montana Western is now 9-1 to begin the 2017-18 season and plays two more games in the tournament. The Bulldogs face Thompson Rivers University on Monday afternoon.
